Vice Chancellor of the Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI), Professor Olufemi Adeoluwa has charged students to deploy knowledge acquired in higher institutions to making positive impacts in the society.
Adeoluwa, who spoke during the matriculation ceremony for the 5,094 students admitted into university for the 2023/2024 academic session, explained that the society would be better if students and graduates were ready to put to use knowledge gained from the university.
He noted that the university, in the last three and half years, has demonstrated capacity in knowledge and innovation, which he said has made the institution, “a place where ideas flourish and diversity is celebrated and where intellectual curiosity knows no bounds.”
The VC urged the new students to be dedicated and committed by taking advantage of the opportunities provided by the university through the designed academic programmes including entrepreneurship and skills acquisition.
“You are advised to abstain from any unwholesome activities that can undermine your integrity. At this juncture, I wish to stress that it is compulsory for all students to register for appropriate courses on the e-portal within the stipulated time. “
Adeoluwa said that the first set of graduates from the institution would be churned out before the end of the year, adding that, “they are not only a testament to our success but also a proof of the university’s ability to provide quality education and prepare students for the future.”
He commended the state governor, Biodun Oyebanji for his commitment to the development of the state, especially the education sector with the recent increase in subventions to tertiary institutions in the state.
“It is not an understatement that Ekiti people and unborn generations will always be grateful for the visionary and bold efforts of our forward-looking governor, in ensuring transformation in all facets of the state,” he said.
The registrar of Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Professor Ishaq Oloyede who was represented by the state coordinator, Hassan Lawal , congratulated the new students, urging them to make their parents proud with academic success.
